3 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Settle for Plain White Espresso Cups

1. You care about the drink, right?

You may have poured (pun intended) hours of your time into discovering espresso. Your obsession started with getting a buzz from coffee, then searching for the perfect coffee, realising that espresso is the key ingredient - but how to make the best espresso? Then you learn to pull a good shot. You may be happy with this. But is it enough? The shot may taste fantastic, but doesn't the vessel it's delivered to your tastebuds in have some effect on the drink itself?

Some cups are better at retaining heat than others. Some look nicer. Espresso cups made from clay retain heat for longer, whereas cups produced from porcelain china have a shiny surface. Porcelain is, for most, good enough at retaining heat. Couple that with a nice-looking cup and you may have a winner.

2. You bought the gear

To others your level of interest in a particular product or item is usually influenced by two factors - how much time you spend enthused in it and how much money you spend on it.  If you started off with a good espresso stovetop then you've got appreciation of the drink. If you then went onto buy a Grinder, Espresso Machine, spare parts and spend every weekend servicing the machine then you've put your money where your coffee loving-mouth is.

Have you gone all the way? Using plain cups after all of that time and money spent on making the drink just feels like a let down.

3. Plain White. Too Boring - or should the focus be on the drink?

Perhaps this is incorrect. Perhaps the purist prefers a minimalist cup, or espresso glass. The focus is then fixed on the shot of espresso without distraction. Whether this offers enough enjoyment of the drink is a question worth asking. There's a time and place for reflection on an art form, but the essence of espresso is the boost, the perk, the high of the drink - the fun. If you can get that from a plain white espresso cup then feel satisfied. If you prefer a more artistic, eccentric or simply more colourful design then don't settle for less.

how to make a cup and saucer bird feeder?

I have seen bird feeders made with cup and saucers. They're mounted on a rod that you stick in the ground. Anybody know how to mount the cup and saucer on the rod.

this is how I made mine....

using silicone adhesive like E6000 the copper pipe cap glued to the saucer bottom .... then it just slips on over the end of the pipe....can do the same with PVC but use a connector rather than pipe cap.... must be removeable so you can easily take it off to clean .....and store for the winter....
