Whats is the point of christmass trees and lights?

i know the "symobolise" christmass exept its just pointless money wastes sure they look.. weird.... exept i h8 buyin all that christmasy stuff that is sorta expencive and breaks in like 5 seci onds. its so pointless, christmass. the way i see it. (not against any religion) its just faith laced with heaps of greed for preasants anyone agree?

You can look at it that way but I look at it like this:
The Christmas tree which is an evergreen tree symbolizes God's everlasting love.
The lights I look at like this:
The yellow light represents the star that shown above the manger in Bethlehem where Christ waas born.
The red lights remind me of the blood that Jesus shed for my sins and yours.
The blue lights remind me of the bruises Jesus bore for our iniquities.
The green lights symbolizes the newness of life which Christ gives us.
The white lights remind me of the purity that we receive through the cleansing of the blood of Christ.
This is why I like to put up a tree with lights and the giving of gifts reminds me when the three wise men came to see baby Jesus and left him the gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
