What amounts of gold and silver make up the old alloy electrum?

In the medieval ages there was a metal alloy they used to make from gold and silver called electrum. I recently bought a ring that is 1000 years old and it is made from electrum. I wanted to know what exactly electrum was.

I hope "exactly" is loosely defined. Ancient and medieval metallurgists weren't always known to have high quality control standards (other than [King/nobleman/weathy person] finds out you ripped him off and the [craftsman/merchant/thief] dies).

Electrum is a naturally occurring alloy of gold and silver, with trace amounts of copper and other metals. Color ranges from pale to bright yellow, depending on the proportions of gold and silver.

Analysis of the electrum composition in ancient Greek coinage dating from 600 BC showed that the gold composition was 55.5% in archaic Phocaea. In the early classical period the gold composition of electrum ranged from 46% in Phokaia to 43% in Mytilene. In later coinage from these areas, dating to 326 BC, the gold composition averaged 40% to 41%.

Now, something made around A.D. 1000? It could been cast from a melted down coin or obtained/refined from "contempary" sources. I would expect that its composition would change accordingly.
